Frequently Asked Questions
-
A nurse practitioner (ARNP) and a doctor both diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medications, provide patient care, order and interpret diagnostic tests, provide preventative care, and perform procedures.
-
Our providers cannot prescribe medications or antibiotics they have not previously prescribed without seeing the patient first. This policy ensures careful consideration of your individual symptoms and the appropriateness of the medication. Providers must evaluate your condition themselves and cannot prescribe based on recommendations from other providers.
-
No, referrals require an appointment. An office visit is necessary to document the reason for the referral in your medical records. This policy is non-negotiable to ensure the referral is medically justified and accurately processed.
-
No, once you are established with one of our providers, they become your primary care provider, and switching to another provider is not permitted. Our providers are dedicated to delivering personalized and high-quality care, which requires a thorough understanding of your medical history. To ensure continuity and effectiveness in your treatment, we do not allow transitions to other providers within the practice. There are instances when your provider has no availability that you might be booked with another available provider for a sick visit.
-
Our providers work as quickly and efficiently as they can, however, they each have many patients. You typically can expect a response within two business days of your initial request. Paperwork requests can take longer. Please don’t forget, it is YOUR job to keep up with your health. If you do not hear back on something with-in two business days, make sure that you follow-up.
-
You should have at least one week between your lab appointment and your appointment here so that we have plenty of time to receive your results. Sometimes it takes longer for us to receive them than it does for you to receive results in your lab’s portal.
-
Please give the facility that you were referred to at least 7- business days to reach out to you. If you do not hear from them, then please contact them with the information located on the paper copy of the referral you were given at your appointment.
-
You can request a change to the provider or imaging center we have referred you to, but please know that we have not selected the provider at random and it can be a cumbersome process for us to change it. Often we will refer you to a provider who we anticipate would be best suited for your particular condition and will work well with our office. To make a change, first call your insurance company and find out who is in-network for you. Next call that office and make sure they are accepting new patients. Once you have found someone, call our office and we will attempt to change your referral for you. Our providers will let you know if they feel you should see someone else.
